Description
Bring Earth’s deep history into hands-on learning with this Fossils & Fossilization 3D Research Project Cube, a student-centered research activity designed for upper elementary and middle school science classrooms. Students investigate how fossils form, what they tell us about past life, and the role of fossilization in interpreting Earth’s history, then synthesize their findings into a three-dimensional research cube that makes abstract paleontology concepts visual, engaging, and memorable.
Perfect for Earth science, geology lessons, fossil units, and STEM research projects, this activity blends research, critical thinking, writing, and creativity while providing a meaningful way to display student learning in your classroom or hallway.
Students can complete these cubes two ways. You can print the template on card stock and have them complete it by hand, or you can give them the PowerPoint template, have them complete it in PowerPoint, then print the completed cube.
Your students will be completely engaged with this hands-on science activity!
Topics include fossils, fossilization, mold & cast, trace fossils, petrification, carbonization, and resin fossils.
