Description
Help students visualize our planet from the inside out with this Earth’s Layers 3D Research Project Cube, a hands-on, student-centered research activity designed for upper elementary and middle school science classrooms. Students explore the structure of Earth’s interior — including the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core — investigate key features and functions of each layer, and synthesize their learning into a three-dimensional research cube that makes abstract geology concepts visual, engaging, and memorable.
Perfect for Earth science units, geology lessons, and STEM research projects, this activity blends research, scientific writing, critical thinking, and creative representation while providing a meaningful way to showcase student learning in your classroom or hallways.
Students can complete these cubes two ways. You can print the template on card stock and have them complete it by hand, or you can give them the PowerPoint template, have them complete it in PowerPoint, then print the completed cube.
Your students will be completely engaged with this hands-on science activity!
