Description
Make geology learning hands-on and memorable with this Rock Cycle 3D Research Project Cube, a student-centered research project designed for upper elementary and middle school science classrooms. Students explore how Earth’s rocks are continuously transformed through weathering, melting, cooling, heat and pressure, and uplift, and then organize their findings into a three-dimensional research cube that makes complex processes visual, interactive, and engaging.
Perfect for Earth science units, geology lessons, STEM projects, and science centers, this activity blends research, scientific writing, critical thinking, and creative representation — all while giving teachers a meaningful way to display student work in classrooms or hallways.
Students can complete these cubes two ways. You can print the template on card stock and have them complete it by hand, or you can give them the PowerPoint template, have them complete it in PowerPoint, then print the completed cube.
Your students will be completely engaged with this hands-on science activity!
Topics include melting & cooling, compaction & cementation, weathering & lithification, igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks.
