Description
Help your students unlock the timeline of Earth’s history with this engaging Rock Dating One-Pager Research Project! Designed for middle school science (grades 6-8), this activity invites learners to explore how geologists determine the age of rocks — covering both relative dating (using stratigraphy, fossils, superposition) and absolute dating (radioisotope decay, half-life) — and then transform their understanding into a visually compelling one-page summary.
This resource is ideal for a unit wrap-up, gallery-walk display, alternative assessment, or enrichment task. Whether you teach in-person, digitally, or in a hybrid format, this print-and-go or fully editable digital version will save you prep time while engaging your students.
When students are finished with their one pagers, have them do a gallery walk to view other students work. When my students finish one pagers, I put all of their finished projects on a Prezi and have them do a virtual gallery walk. The students love it! A gallery walk worksheet is included!
