Description
Make teaching natural selection and evolution engaging and interactive with these no-prep Digital Natural Selection Doodle Notes! Students complete the notes directly in PowerPoint by typing their responses or dragging and dropping words from the included word bank.
Two differentiated versions allow you to select the level of support your students need. Use the blank version for more independent note-taking or the fill-in-the-blank version with the removable word bank for additional support.
Students learn how natural selection works through variation, competition, survival, reproduction, and change over time. Visual examples featuring rabbits, giraffes, and Darwin’s finches help students understand how helpful traits become more common in a population over many generations.
A coordinating reading passage contains all the information needed to complete the notes. Students can work independently, complete the activity with a partner, or follow along during whole-class instruction. Animated teaching slides reveal the answers one section at a time.

What are doodle notes??
Doodle notes are a visual note-taking strategy that will increase student engagement, focus, creativity and concept retention. Recent studies have found that doodling or taking visual notes while studying science material can help enhance learning, engagement, and reasoning. Teaching students to use doodling in class will help them remember more, focus on the topics at hand and generally enjoy the lessons more.
Lead your class through the notes with the included reading and teaching slides, or assign independently and review when they are finished. This assignment would also make great sub plans!
